2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Crossover in Wexford, PA
Limitations Removed
The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 takes the electric vehicle experience to a whole new level. Every feature, element, and aspect of this vehicle focuses on providing a unified experience, both aesthetically and functionally. The repeating pattern of four squares, which is Morse code for the letter 'H', can be found in the headlights, brake lights, seats, and numerous other locations shows a level of attention to detail you won't find in the competition. Being able to do away with the standards of the past like the transmission hump means that our engineers and designers were able to cut loose and come up with fresh ideas. For example, moving the gear shifter to the steering wheel column and minimizing the number of options down to Drive, Neutral, Reverse, and Park saves space and eliminates confusion between when to use some of the other options typically seen. Something as basic as a center console has been rethought. With no transmission hump, the console can slide forward and back to provide extra storage space for a backpack, purse, or whatever else you want.
All New Design
The exterior design is reminiscent of the hatchbacks of the 1980's. Sharply angled and creased, you might not guess that this is the longest vehicle in the Hyundai lineup. This long wheelbase helps add stability to every drive. Coupled with short overhangs, aggressive wheel design, and a sharply raked rear window, this EV has a sporty appearance and stands out for all the right reasons. There are also other features that might not be at the top of your list of requirements, but clearly fall in the 'nice to have' category such as flush door handles and turn signals integrated into the side mirrors. Where the Ioniq 5 really shines is in the details. The previously mentioned four squares motif repeats on the details of the headlight casing and the rear panel between the brake lights. Color options range from white to gray (2 versions) to black for the SE model, while SEL and Limited trim levels get additional options of Digital Teal and Lucid Blue.
Ready to Go
Offering an 800-volt battery pack, the Ioniq 5 is one of the fastest charging vehicles on the market today. It can go from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes. With the 77.4 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, the rear-wheel drive model gets 225 horsepower, 258 pound-feet of torque and an estimated 303 miles of range. Sweetening the pot, Hyundai is including three years of free 30-minute charging sessions on the Electrify America network. As this network continues to grow, your road trips can take your further from home. The all-wheel drive models have 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque with 256 miles of range. This much range enables you to enjoy the drive and not focus on charging your vehicle all the time. It also means that the options for where you go are much more open. The Ioniq 5 features four different drive modes (Normal, Eco, Sport, and Snow) to help you control how the horsepower is used. There are also multiple options for regenerative braking, which can be changed on the fly as your driving conditions change.
