The All-New 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Electric Vehicle
Introducing the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5
With very few exceptions, electric vehicles (EVs) have been a variant of an existing traditionally powered vehicle. The Ioniq 5 is our first model to be designed from the ground up as an EV and no consideration given to a version with a gasoline engine. This focus enables us to make this the best SUV possible without having to make concessions for both types of powertrains and drivetrains. In all ways, this is a really big deal and will only be beneficial.
Going the Distance
The Ioniq 5 was designed to keep you moving. Whether you leave home fully charged or not, every mile you drive brings you closer to needing a trip to "fuel up." Visit a nearby Electrify America charging station and take advantage of the 2-year unlimited 30-minute charging sessions when you buy a 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5. Get over 60 miles of driving range with a stop at an ultra-fast charging station in five minutes or less. If you have a longer trip ahead of you, charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in under 18 minutes.
Design Details
The design differences between a gas vehicle and an electric vehicle can be subtle, but also profound. With an EV, there's no need for a transmission tunnel, aka "the hump" between driver and passenger seats. By reclaiming that space, legroom is increased and you are no longer left feeling constrained or cramped by your vehicle. One of the other advantages of an all-EV vehicle is the ease to monitor vital systems and integrate modern features throughout. And if we're going to pay that much attention to the mechanical engineering, we're certainly going to make the most of all other aspects of the vehicle. For example, you can charge your laptop, tablet, or other device inside or outside the vehicle or even use it as a power source for a TV or e-bike. We've also added a voice command system so that you can issue simple commands like "open the sunroof," "turn up the air conditioning," or "open the trunk" so that you can keep your eyes on the road at all times.
