The Future is Electric
Learn About Hyundai's Lineup of Electric Vehicles
Hyundai has seen the future of the automotive industry and it is electric. While some manufacturers resist this change, we are proud to say that Hyundai is fully embracing it and has committed to offering 10 electrified, eco-focused models in 2022. Of these 10 vehicles, 4 of them are "Battery Electric Vehicles" (BEV): the Kona, IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and the IONIQ Electric. Hyundai has announced that more of the lineup will become electrified over the next few years. Watch this space for more updates.
The 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric SUV
An electric SUV has long been on the wish list of any driver looking for an EV. The form factor makes it easy to get in and out of, it offers seating for five, has a spacious cargo area, and is filled to the brim with advanced technology safety and technology features that you've come to expect from Hyundai. It has a range of 258 miles on a full charge which is more than enough for most people. When it's time to "fill up," you can charge up at home with a 220/240V outlet or you can use one of the Electrify America DC fast-charging stations around the Pittsburgh metro area for free. Keep in mind that the Kona Electric uses Regenerative Braking technology: every time you use the brakes, you're adding some energy back into the battery.
The 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 SUV
The IONIQ 5, arriving in Fall of 2021, is our next generation electric SUV. Unlike other models, it was designed from day one to be fully electric. There isn't a gas or even a hybrid version available. It's all electric, all the time. The bold, futuristic exterior design aligns with this technological stance with a unique profile. Being fully electric means not having to hold on to designs of gasoline powered vehicles. IONIQ 5 breaks away from the past and provides a much flatter floor, which gives greater legroom to both front and rear passengers. It offers and ultra-fast charging capability that gives you 60+ miles of range in five minutes, or you can go from 10% to 80% in about 18 minutes. It can even function as a power source for your personal electronics including laptops and tvs.
The 2021 Hyundai IONIQ 6 Sedan
While the Hyundai IONIQ 6 has only been briefly mentioned in official press from Hyundai, it is expected to arrive at some point in 2022 and based on the same platform as the IONIQ 5.
The Hyundai IONIQ Electric
The 2021 Hyundai IONIQ Electric is a version of the previous platform IONIQ hatchback. It is both familiar and a proven winner with consumers. With an estimated range of 170 miles per full charge it provides plenty of juice for trips around town. The Regenerative Braking systems helps keep the battery topped off by taking some of the energy generated by using the brakes to fill the battery. While this won't replacing using a dedicated charging station, every little bit helps keep you on the road that much further.
